Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), the national carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced its 2017 annual performance, and ending the year with record results, a steady expansion, and a robust position. Over the previous year, SAUDIA continued to invest in refreshing its fleet, product and services to staying attuned to the diverting and changing needs of its guests.
In 2017, SAUDIA carried a record 32.16 million passengers, up 8% in total and 14% in international routes compared to the previous year. The overall strong passenger traffic growth in 2017 affirms the airline’s success to winning customers and retaining their trust, and points-up the guests desire to fly on SAUDIA’s cutting-edge fleet and to enjoy its world-class service. That’s why the airline increased capacity during the previous year by 2 million seats compared to last year to cater for the flow and grow that figure above expectations.
During 2017, SAUDIA’s total departures crossed the 200.000 flights (119.000 departures domestically, 78.000 internationally, and 9.000 for hajj and Umra) clocking in almost 530.000 hours and criss-crossing the skies of more than 90 destinations around the world.
To provide the guests with more convenient and more personalized digital travel experience, SAUDIA implemented a comprehensive update and improvement in its eServices and IFE system. In 2017, the airline saw an 82% spike in its App usage.
